Night one featured talent including ZOFF + Alan Anderson, WUXLY, Kiki de Montparnasse, David Dixon and Mikhael Kale

TORONTO, ON – The Yorkville neighbourhood was abuzz for Day One of Toronto Fashion Week® x RE\SET™, as some of the nation’s top talent kicked off the event with their latest collections for FW2019.

Fashion Talks™ returned for its third consecutive season with host Donna Bishop speaking with trend forecasting expert Carly Stojsic on cannabis and what this new lifestyle means to the fashion industry.

Guests were treated to an incredible showing of fashion with designer shows peppered throughout various locations in Yorkville throughout the day. The day started with a presentation of high-end activewear brand MICHI’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection at Equinox, as part of STYLE NIGHT – Toronto Fashion Week® x RE\SET™’s opening event, followed by ZOFF + Alan Anderson’s showcase at The Hazelton Hotel.

In the evening, WUXLY presented its collection in the Fashion Environment, where a skating rink was brought in for professional figure skaters, including Olympic gold medalist Gabby Daleman, to showcase the brand’s designs. Kiki de Montparnasse x TNT held a runway show in P2 Yorkville Village. At the Royal Ontario Museum, Bübl x DAVID DIXON brought awareness to the two million Canadians affected by osteoporosis with an inspiring collection that featured bubble wrap – the universal symbol for protection. Mikhael Kale closed Day One with a runway show held in P2 Yorkville Village.

beautyBOUTIQUE™ by Shoppers Drug Mart, under the lead of P1M artist Simone Otis, created makeup looks to accompany each designer’s looks, while Jorge Joao of Redken 5th Avenue NYC led hair designs for each show.

The Toronto Fashion Week® x RE\SET™ Showroom opened today in the Fashion Environment (136 Yorkville Ave.). Open from 11 AM – 10 PM daily, the public and event guests can meet and shop directly from designers including Beth Richards, BIKO, Christopher Bates, Emily Kowalik and more.

STYLE NIGHT, hosted by Yorkville Village, ended off Day One with notable retailers, designers, experts and consumers coming together to celebrate the very best of Canadian fashion and Yorkville. Victoria Radford held a skincare tutorial and live demonstration of the Hollywood North facial in her eponymous salon, she also shared tips on how to replicate the facial’s benefits at home using high-performance products. Andrews showcased the Spring 2019 collection from Greta Constantine before opening up the shop for a shopping party where a proceed of sales were donated to Mount Sinai hospital to support Breast Cancer Research. ELAMA x The House of Brand held a fun meet-and-greet with RuPaul’s Drag Queen’s Gia Gunn and Kimora Blac before they performed at the Fashion Environment, which was hosted by London Brown of HBO’s hit show Ballers.

This season, volunteers’ shirts were designed by Shine The Light On, who uses thought-provoking designs aimed at sparking conversation and building community. Sold in over 1,000 stores across North America, Shine The Light On is creating a global movement of social change.
