From Cellars to Classics

World-class chamber music meets world-class wine in the beauty of the Okanagan Valley…

Introducing From Cellars to Classics – a new Okanagan Wine Festival Society (OWFS) Signature Event, in partnership with Okanagan ChamberFest.

This event brings the natural pairing of wine and music together and features the very best of Canada’s classical chamber musicians.

The evening will begin with an hour-long wine and hors d’oeuvres reception where guests will have the opportunity to taste more than 35 wines from regional wineries. Guests will then enjoy two 45-minute performances.

Everything from solo piano to string quartet, the timeless works of masters such as Bach, Mozart, and Schubert will be blended with thought-provoking pieces by living composers such as John Luther Adams and the legendary Okanagan composer, Imant Raminsh.

Do not miss this one-of-a-kind event! Ticket price includes entrance, food, wine tasters and a complimentary glass of wine served during intermission.

Who is From Cellars to Classics perfect for?
This event is perfect for anyone who appreciates music and wine— it’s the perfect pairing, in our opinion! If you enjoy classical music, talented musicians and wine tasting, this event is for you. Works include pieces from Schubert, Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Raminsh, & Luther Adams.
What is chamber music?
Chamber music is classical music played by a small ensemble of intrumentalists. It is more intimate than an orchestra, as there are only a handful of musicians playing at a time. Chamber music was originally played in the chambres of royalty and aristocracy, but in 2022 anyone is able to enjoy.
Who will be performing?
There will be no shortage of musical talent on stage! Performers include Phil Chiu (piano, winner of the Mécénat Musica Prix Goyer), Cameron Crozman (cello, recipient of the Canada Council’s 2021 Virignia Parker Prize), Nicholas Denton Protsack (cello, winner of two 2021 SOCAN Foundation Young Composers Awards), Keith Hamm (viola, named one of Canada’s Hottest 30 Classical Musicians Under 30 by CBC), Meagan Milatz (piano, winner of Shean Piano Competition and CFMTA National Piano Competition), and others.
