Attention homebodies and music fans! ArtStream is broadcasting an online music festival on Saturday, October 2nd. The event is returning for it’s third installment since the beginning of the pandemic. With the help of Unicorns Live and a grant from Sound On, the team has upped the ante on the production value and marketing the event.
What started with humble beginnings as a Facebook group early on in the pandemic has quickly grown into a streaming festival that gathers artists to perform and collaborate. Organizers have been working to produce ArtStream since the very beginning of the pandemic, and they are very excited for this weekend’s lineup.
The show begins at 7:00pm – it is a by-donation show, and begins at 7pm with an introduction from past ArtStream MCs DeAnna & Kurt. Though the show is advertised as free, it is recommended that attendees donate to the artists via a tip jar on the platform.
It will be broadcast on the Unicorns Live platform, which has presented many high-quality Okanagan shows to the world since the pandemic began.
The lineup includes a handful of veteran Okanagan artists including Theresa Bishop, Robert McLaren and Dustin McGifford, as well as some younger members of the community.
7:10 – Theresa Bishop
7:45 – Josie Morrow
8:20 – The Cavernous
9:20 – Dustin McGifford
9:55 – Niki Kennedy
Though some restrictions have eased, the industry is still marred with difficulties for live performers – sound ordinances remain, capacities are still low in indoor spaces, many people are still hesitant to go out for a show, and venues in Kelowna continue to shut their doors. But for the organizing team at ArtStream Okanagan, there is a passion that burns bright – Because the show must go on.
