Kelowna, BC – GSL Group and Prospera Credit Union are proud to announce today an agreement on a five-year renewal of their partnership for naming rights of Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC. The extension will keep the facility’s name as Prospera Place through January of 2024.
Prospera Place is located in the heart of downtown Kelowna and has been a community staple since its construction in 1999. With a capacity of 6,000-8,000 people for concerts and hockey games, Prospera Place is the premier multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility in Kelowna. The facility provides hundreds of jobs to Kelowna residents and will continue to offer high quality entertainment.
“Prospera Place is the number one venue for sports and entertainment in the Okanagan Valley,” said Dave Dakers, President of RG Sports and Entertainment. “Prospera Credit Union is a fantastic community partner, and we are pleased to be extending our agreement with them for the next five years.”
Built by RG Properties Ltd. (now GSL Group) in 1999, Prospera Credit Union has held the naming rights to Prospera Place since 2003.
“Back in 2003, our Prospera team was very excited to extend our credit union operations to serve the Okanagan community,” said Prospera’s President and CEO, Shawn Good. “In the many years since, we have put down roots, built strong relationships and expanded operations to serve members through our four branches. Supporting the local community is important to us as a co-operative and we’re thrilled to continue our arena partnership for an additional 5 years.”
During the 16 years the facility has been known as Prospera Place the arena has enjoyed tremendous success. Home to the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Kelowna Rockets, Prospera Place played host to the 2004 Memorial Cup and has hosted four WHL Championships (2003, 2005, 2009 and 2014). The Rockets are currently one of three teams bidding to host the 2020 Memorial Cup.
Prospera Place has also hosted the Rock the Lake Music Festival in August since 2016. This weekend of classic rock has become a summer staple in the Okanagan Valley.
