New Music Review with Jimmy Leguilloux: EP #5 – Lindsay May
By Jimmy Leguilloux.
Whether you’re talking about her songwriting, her acoustic guitar and mandolin playing or spotting her singing and playing bass in her band the Mayhem, one thing is indisputable: Lindsay May is a multitalented artist.
Her songwriting have won her huge accolades including Texas’ Kerrville New Folk Finalist, New Mountain Stage Song Finalist and more. And it’s no surprise, because she has spent years honing her craft through workshops, endless songwriting books and just plain old hard work.. Her songs mine the depths of emotion, riding the line between loss and temptation with the slow-burn ballads along with a few fun, upbeat road-trip worthy tunes.
The last decade has seen Lindsay May release 5… albums ranging from a bluesy rocky album to the crowd favourite ‘Shimmer’, to an acoustic album ‘Acoustic 4.0’, and now her latest, a beautiful Christmas record ‘Sweet Cinnamon. Partially funded with the generous support from Creative BC.
Lindsay May has toured Europe solo 4 times and criss crossed North America twice… always being asked back.. and when she’s not writing, producing her own records or practising(a lot!), you can find her playing bass and singing in her country/rock cover band, the Mayhem. The Mayhem is also her band with select talented buddies that back her up for her original tunes at festivals such as 2019 BC wildlife park fundraiser, Rockin River Fest, Rogers Hometown Hockey, CBC Holiday Train tailgate party and many others.
Lindsay has also shared the stage with Valdy, Shari Ulrich, American Aquarium, the Hunter Brothers and many more.
