The Funtastic Sports Society is seeking your help in continuing to give back to the community through sport for 2021.
Running now until July 3rd, people have the opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket for $20 with the chance to win 1
of 4 excellent prizes.
“The Funtastic Sports Society, like so many groups and businesses have had to adapt to the guidelines set upon us
with Covid-19” says President Darcy Sochan. “Our mission is to Build A Better Community Through Sport and give back to the community. We are reaching out for your support in this raffle, so we can continue our Community Grant Program and our plan to enhance the fields at DND.”
Raffle tickets will be available from Funtastic Board of Directors, on the Funtastic Website of www.funtasticsports.ca, emailing office@funtastic.org, phoning 250 558 7756, the Funtastic Facebook page and at various locations throughout the City until July 3rd, including Sun Country Cycle this Saturday, April 10th on Kal Lake Road 10am – 4pm. The draw will take place at the Funtastic office at DND on Saturday July 3rd, 2021.
“Thanks to our great sponsors, we are able to offer sports related prizes to 4 lucky raffle winners. 1st prize is a pair of Townie Go Ebikes from Sun Country Cycle, 2nd prize is 2 rounds of golf and stay at Predator Ridge, 3rd prize is 2 Pelican Kayaks from Funtastic and a $650 Gift Certificate from National Softball Association is the 4th prize.” Says General Manager Akbal Mund.
Since 1985, The Funtastic Sports Society has hosted the Funtastic Slo Pitch and Music Festival with over $2.1 million dollars being put back into the community by way of 13 ball diamonds, 5 play grounds, defibrillators at ice arenas and lights at Marshall Fields tennis courts to name a few. In addition, over $275,000 has been given back to the community through the Funtastic Sports Community Grant Program. The purpose of the Community Grant is to provide financial support to non profit sports, recreation, and community organizations of sports nature serving the Greater Vernon region. Successful applicants will benefit from the Community Grant program with an emphasis on projects that will continue to support the grown of sports and recreation in the region.
With the uncertainty of the 2021 Slo Pitch and Music Festival, the Board of Directors is wanting to ensure that needy sports groups still have the ability to seek out funds for organizations seeking grants to cover equipment, or capital projects. A decision regarding the 37th annual event will be made by the end of April. The Board of Directors are following the Provincial Health Orders closely and a decision will be made with the health and safety of the focus of their decision.
