THANK YOU to the generosity of CHANCES, $15 from each ticket will go directly to the awesome work of Tourette Canada, supporting families right here in the Okanagan. Although Tourette Canada is a National Charitable organization we receive no government funding and depend on our fundraisers to continue to offer supports to individuals and families across Canada.
Tourette Syndrome or TS is a Neurodevelopmental or brain-based condition that causes people who have it to make involuntary sounds and movements called tics. An estimated 1 in 100 have TS, with many also being affected by one or more of the associated disorders, including anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and more (TS+).
It is a common misconception that the main symptom on TS is swearing. Up to 10% of people with TS may experience coprolalia at some point. Coprolalia is the involuntary utterance of obscenities, profanities and derogatory remarks. As with all tics, the behaviour is not intentional.
Please visit tourette.ca or email Kelowna@tourette.ca to learn more about our important cause.*
