JENNY LONG WELCOMES CARLA O’BEE AS PARTNER
FOR EXPANSION AND OPENING OF
BEELONG GALLERY, ARTIST STUDIOS & MAKERS SHOP
OPENING NIGHT – MARCH 7
Penticton, BC (February 26, 2019) – Artists Jenny Long and Carla O’Bee are pleased to announce their new partnership and expansion of the Gallery at 374 Main St., Penticton, to the BEELONG CONTEMPORARY GALLERY, ARTIST STUDIOS & MAKERS SHOP.
Newly renovated for the expansion, BeeLong will present nine rotating new shows a year in the Gallery including Jenny and Carla’s work, and that of studio, local and visiting artists; workshops and classes for all levels of learning in the teaching space; and handcrafted Canadian goods in the new Makers Shop.
Jenny Long comments, “It excites me profoundly to be joining forces with Carla O’Bee and expanding up to the next level, “BeeLong,” in this artist space that was started 2 years ago. Carla brings to this partnership a complimentary vision that highlights the makers-movement that is upon us. As well as being a painter, Carla is an accomplished jeweller herself and brings her connections to our Makers Shop. And, as qualified teachers, who love to facilitate people’s creative learning, we will both be teaching classes as well as working in our studios.”
Carla O’Bee adds, “I am beyond thrilled to be partnering with Jenny in this inspiring artistic space. I am especially pleased that we have expanded the Gallery Space for bigger shows and to be adding the Makers Shop. There is a strong makers movement that is on the uprising and I am delighted to be curating some of the best handcrafted Canadian goods for the Shop.”
BeeLong is all about inclusivity and supporting the diverse voices found in visual arts. Stimulating our minds with new ways of looking at things, or reusing materials in new ways (up-cycling) is what we are all about. This is not a pretentious space, we all ‘belong’ here! At the BeeLong there are FIVE resident artists joining Jenny and Carla who are creating and selling artwork in their studios.
Opening Night is Thursday, March 7, 5-8 PM, Everyone is Welcome.
There will be music by DJ Spill, door prizes, beverages from Cannery Brewing and Da Silva Vineyards & Winery, and more.
Jenny is best known as an abstract expressionist painter and art teacher. Carla is known for both her abstract paining and handcrafted jewellery.
