LIZ LONGLEY’SBILL REYNOLDS-PRODUCED WEIGHTLESSRELEASED TO CRITICAL ACCLAIMPREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR SINGLE SWING “For an introspective artist who no longer hangs with the new kids on the writer’s block, Longley seems ready, willing and able to make the most of her lucky break.” – Huffington Post“Longley’s clearly ready to seize on stardom.” – PopMatters Toronto, ON – September 6, 2016 – Weightless, the new album from acclaimed singer/songwriter Liz Longley, is out now on Sugar Hill Records. Longley recorded the 10-song collection in Nashville with Bill Reynolds (Band of Horses, Avett Brothers, Lissie). The record luxuriates in bold pop with rock-and-roll edges. The Dallas Morning News enthuses, “Liz Longley’s Weightless triggers an ‘undeniable, indescribable’ spark. Her work carries something more, a cleverness, a wit and a mix of musical styles mastered at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston.”The New York Times included the title track in its weekly Playlist feature. “The title song of the roots-rock songwriter Longley’s second album, Weightless, turns the prosaic part of a breakup — dividing up the possessions — into a rite of passage. ‘You can have the couch, the lamp, the diamond ring/the books on the shelf, the dishes in the sink,’ she itemizes over one repeated chord, and soon, with everything cleared out including the bad memories, the electric guitar digs in, the drums kick harder and the melody ascends to where she can be ‘way up high beyond your gravity’ — unencumbered and free.” You can listen to Weightless in The Playlist on Spotify.Huffington Post says, “Longley’s pliable vocals seamlessly shift from her drop-dead gorgeous ballads to bona fide rockers like ‘Say Anything You Want’ and ‘What’s the Matter,’ proving breakup songs don’t have to be so dreary. . .In the style of Linda Ronstadt or Paula Cole, Longley brings a passionate kick..”PopMatters premiered the album last week, calling it “packed to the gills with instantly memorable pop rock songs, many of which could be chartbound,” and praising Longley’s “top notch” songwriting, noting that it’s “full of relatable tales of life and relationships.” Parcbench proclaims, “If the future of pop music matters, this album will find itself on the top of everyone’s year-end ‘Best Of’ list.”Popdose premiered the video for Longley’s single Swing. The video was shot on location in Liz’s adopted hometown of Nashville, TN by Sean Hagwell (Mike Posner, Chancellor Warhol, Paul McDonald), and features extras from Nashville’s acclaimed 4th Wall Acting Studio. Popdose regards the album as “A bright, yet powerful collection of brand new songs that shows how much Ms. Longley has to offer.” Watch the video for Swing here.Longley will take her intriguing “meld of folk, Americana, and pop”(AllMusic) on the road this fall.
