Fourth and final phase of Rutland Centennial Park construction begins Wednesday

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 12, crews will be adding to the unique and inclusive park space in the heart of Rutland. Rutland Centennial Park Phase 4 improvements will include an event stage, a basketball court, an ultimate frisbee field, a junior soccer field, ping pong tables, and landscaping.
The construction of a new washroom is also included in the Phase 4 additions, and construction on that will start in the fall. The total investment for this final phase of work is $3.3 million.
Residents will continue to be able to enjoy the park, with access to the park during construction available at the Rutland Road entrance rather than the McIntosh Road entrance.
The City acquired the previously undeveloped 2.5-hectare park space next to Rutland Centennial Hall in 2015, and enhancements and additions at Rutland Centennial Park have been underway since 2016. Phases 1-3 included the construction of a sportsfield, accessible playground, pathways and a multi-cultural garden.
