STOMP & STEP WILDFIRE FUNDRAISER
The firefighters STOMPED out the fire so now we can STEP up and give!
August 29, 2023 – Kelowna, BC: You may remember their Healthcare Heroes song during COVID thanking the first responders, now Kelowna musicians Jim & Kim Rhindress are the organizers behind Stomp & Step – a country music fundraiser to raise money for wildfire relief.
“We stood on the beach and watched in horror as the fire jumped from hill to hill destroying homes and our beautiful forests,” says Kim, “I was telling my son in Ontario how helpless we were feeling as many of our friends were evacuated and he suggested we do a fundraiser.”
“We flew into action, made three phone calls and BAM we had the beginnings of an event,” adds Jim.
The night of fun takes place September 29th at the OK Corral in Kelowna.
Doors open at 7:00pm with former contestant of The Voice, Germany Norm Strauss opening the night with his acoustic duo Mr. & Mrs. Strauss. BCCMA winner Ben Klick takes the stage at
8:15pm with his band to start off the dancing. People’s Choice Okanagan finalists Rhindress band keeps the dance floor going at 9:30pm and Canada’s Got Talent contestant Michael Daniels band closes from 10:45pm – 11:45pm. The event ends at midnight but late night guests can still dance to a DJ until the venue closes at 2:00am.
Three special items will be selected for LIVE Aucon between band sets and guests can enjoy a
Silent Auction, Photo Booth and Door Prizes. Food truck Leroy’s Street Eats will be on location.
“Everyone involved is a volunteer and we have already received some incredible auction items and media sponsorships,” says Kim. “It is heartwarming to see the generosity of our community
when people have the chance to give,” adds Jim.
Every dollar raised goes to the Central Okanagan Foundation a registered nonprofit endowment since 1977 providing community funds to Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna and Lake Country. Tax receipts are available upon request through the Central Okanagan Foundation.
