Watch a movie under the stars while sipping delicious wine and munching on gourmet popcorn at Oak Estates Winery in Summerland.

Deciding they wanted to bring something fun and unique to the community, Oak Estate Winery is hosting dinner and outdoor movies every Thursday all summer long.

With a stunning back drop of vines cascading down to Okanagan Lake, movies are put on a big screen and blankets, pillows and chairs are set up around the screen at the winery’s patio.

This Thursday’s movie, Aug. 15, is Imaginary, a classic-style horror movie about a twisted teddy bear left behind in a house that a little girl befriends. Think Chucky but cuter. Given its sometimes scary nature, the movie is suggested for people 12-years of age and older.

“We are just trying to create some fun things for our awesome Summerland community,” said Alysha West of Oak Estate Winery.

The first movie under the stars took place on June 27 and showed the blockbuster film Fall Guy featuring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. They also showed the movie Twister which was a popular one.

Tourists and locals alike have been loving the experience of watching a movie in such a beautiful location. Kids enjoy watching a movie outdoors and the adults appreciate the opportunity to sip some award-winning wines, local beer and cider.

Oak Estates also has the VIP cabana for two that includes luxury, plush accommodations and bottle of wine or bubbles.

The movie is $25 per adult, $12 for kids with a first come, first served basis. No reservation required. There is concession open at 8:30 p.m. and includes hot dogs, gourmet popcorn, pop, wine, beer and cider.

Movies get started around 9 p.m. when the sun goes down.

To make it a complete evening, take in dinner and a movie. Dinner includes a free movie pass.

Mouth-watering mains like beef tenderloin or pepper soy pork belly and peaches or chicken baked penne and divine desserts like cookies and cream cheesecake or rotating flavours of ice cream are on the movie night menu at Oak Estates.

Dinner reservations are required by calling 250-485-2075. Oak Estate Winery is located at 20623 McDougald Road, off Highway 97.
