Downtown Kelowna Night Market Debuts This Thursday
The Downtown Kelowna Association (DKA) invites the community to the launch of a new weekly event set to debut this Thursday as part of the Meet Me on Bernard initiative.
The Downtown Kelowna Night Market will be held this Thursday, May 30 in Kerry Park and on the 200 Block of Bernard Avenue from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Visitors to the Market will notice a mix of Downtown Kelowna businesses in attendance, accompanied by artisans, crafters, local food producers, mobile food vendors, and community-based entertainment.
A brief Opening Ceremony at 4:00pm will kick off the first occasion of the Night Market, with City of Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas set to provide remarks before a ribbon cutting. Several buskers and a live DJ will be the featured entertainment on the stage in Kerry Park.
A key component of the evolving programming strategy for the Meet Me on Bernard program, the Night Market aims to invigorate the late afternoon and evening in Downtown Kelowna by providing a fun and inclusive environment while supporting Downtown Kelowna businesses.
Roughly thirty vendors will be in attendance this week; the Market has space for up to fifty weekly vendors. The Night Market will be held on Thursdays from May 30 through August 29, with the exception of June 27 and August 1, for a total of twelve occasions.
Applications for the Downtown Kelowna Night Market are still being accepted for several occasions this summer. Artisans, crafters, and local food producers are invited to submit their applications through an online application form. Prospective vendors should familiarize themselves with the criteria for eligibility before submitting their application. Applications for the Night Market will be accepted until the market is full.
This year’s Meet Me on Bernard program is now happening in the 200 Block of Bernard Avenue from Abbott Street to Water Street, with the 300 Block from Water Street to Pandosy Street joining on Friday, June 28. The DKA acknowledges that Meet Me on Bernard is operated on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded land of the syilx/Okanagan people who have resided here since time immemorial.
The Downtown Kelowna Night Market is produced in cooperation with Artisans Showcase, with support from New Horizon Productions. For more information or to submit an application, please visit downtownkelowna.com/night-market.
