Apple Introduces iPhone SE, The Newest Phone For 2020
If you have been waiting for a new iPhone, the wait is over. Apple has officially announced its brand new iPhone SE model, which is basically a lower-cost iPhone that will start at $399 for a version with 64GB of storage.
When it comes to the design and main features, it is safe to say that the iPhone SE looks (a lot) like an iPhone 8. The design is mimicked throughout the phone, which blasts a 4.7-inch screen, has large bezels on its top and bottom, as well as a home button with Touch ID.
A Practical Upgrade To An Existing Look
In a way, the iPhone SE brings us back in time when we had the iPhone 7 and 8 and the buttons right beneath their screen. However, it is also a design that has stayed consistent since the iPhone 6, which makes the iPhone SE a practical upgrade to the fifth generation of this same look.
The iPhone SE will be available for preorder starting from April 17, and it will start shipping on April 24. There is also a 128GB version offered for $449 as well as a 256GB model for $549. Just like other iPhones for sale right now, the iPhone SE will also come with a free year of Apple TV Plus.
An iPhone 8 With A Better Camera And Processor
If you are wondering what makes this phone better than the iPhone 8 knowing that their looks are quite the same, there is an answer to this question.
The answer lies in the improved camera (12-megapixel one) and the new processor (A3 Bionic chip). The new processor will also make up for better photos, especially the Smart HDR photography which combines multiple shots into a single photo to improve lighting and detail.
As a bonus, Apple integrated a portrait mode with a technology that they call “monocular depth sensing” which is essentially machine learning put into practice. The portrait mode will detect depth and faces and be powered by optical image stabilization.
From what we see on paper, battery life and screen will remain the same as what is on the iPhone 8. The color options start with the standard black and white, plus the Product Red color as the newest addition.
