Vernon Video & Podcast Studio Nominated for Best New Business Award

Joseph Pinheiro, Owner and Creative Director of Vernon-based Phreeagent Creative, has been nominated for the Best New Business Award.

“One of the first projects I worked on in Vernon back in 2015 was for the Greater Vernon Chamber Business Award videos,” Pinheiro recalls. “Over the years, I’ve collaborated with many local businesses, discovering this region’s entrepreneurial spirit. This nomination is unexpected yet oddly familiar. I’m honoured—thank you.”

After producing and editing commercial videos in Vancouver at The Ace Film Company & Ocean Media, Pinheiro moved to the Okanagan in 2013, where he spent summers creating content for Gatzke Orchard before joining Sproing Solutions. Nearly a decade later, he’s now launched Phreeagent Creative.

Though new, Phreeagent Creative is led by a familiar face with nearly 15 years of film production experience. “Call me a late bloomer to business ownership,” Pinheiro jokes. “Even though my family is full of entrepreneurs, I was late to the game, but now it feels right. I’m just focused on keeping this energy going and bringing my diverse experience to the forefront.”

Phreeagent’s launch in the spring coincided with the Kelowna Film Festival premiere of Horse Woman – sn̓kłca̓ʔsqáx̌aʔ tkłmílxʷ, a TELUS Storyhive project directed by Mariel Belanger and edited by Pinheiro. “I’m proud of this film and the inspiring people I collaborated with—oh yes, and the horses!” Horse Woman has appeared at several film festivals, including recently at the Pathways Film Festival in Santa Fe, and will be featured at the Kamloops Indigenous Film Festival this Saturday, September 28th. Look for it on TELUS Optik TV this November.

New video and podcast projects quickly followed, including The Climate Action Ripple Effect Event, Transistor.fm, and local startup Intimate Wellbeing. Another TELUS Storyhive project, a podcast by Sareena Nickoli called Feed Your Soul, is also coming soon.

Wesmont Group, a Langley-based real estate developer, selected Phreeagent for the video marketing of the Salt Centre industrial park in Vernon and The Rosemont residential project in Armstrong. “This relationship ties back to my roots in real estate. The Tilstra family reminded me of home and aligned with Phreeagent’s values. We had a lot of fun on our productions. We get invested in our clients’ success, and that feeds our creativity. I’m incredibly thankful for the community’s support over the past few months.”

As Phreeagent Creative continues to make its mark, Pinheiro’s focus remains on delivering standout content that elevates the stories of the Okanagan’s thriving communities.
