British Columbia’s most beloved summer event will return with a wide variety of entertainment and food options for the entire family.
Update Aug. 21: With the official opening of the 111th PNE Fair on the horizon, the health, safety, comfort, and overall experience is the top priority.
Here are five things fairgoers need to know before visiting the PNE this year:
1. For the first time, advance tickets are required and must be date specific
Due to limited capacity restrictions and contact tracing in place, tickets must be purchased in advance of your visit to the fairgrounds. It is strongly recommended to reserve your date-specific tickets early on ticketleader.ca to avoid disappointment.
*There are no ‘ins and outs’ at the Fair this year. This is to maintain accurate capacity counts.
2. Outdoor emphasis for festival-style experience
This year’s Fair footprint will be outdoors in Hastings Park. Whether listening to great live music, watching a show or enjoying lunch with friends or family, maintaining comfortable distances will be possible across more than 50 acres of beautiful parkland. For 2021 the indoor space will be limited to the Livestock barns, which have high ceilings and are well ventilated.
Physical distancing practices of six feet/two metres between your party and other guests is suggested and plexiglass shields have been installed where possible. Masks are recommended on-site for guests – particularly inside the Livestock Barns, in line for attractions and on rides – but not required. PNE staff, contractors and vendors will be masked.
3. Sanitation station-to-station
Whether you’re watching one of the can’t miss shows and attractions like the SuperDogs or For the Love of Drag, visiting the rides at Playland or chowing down on some mini donuts; you’ll find a sanitation station. These will be located throughout the Fairgrounds to keep your hands clean at contact points.
4. Contactless payments
This year, the PNE’s primary form of payment is contactless cards (debit/credit/gift cards). Many on-site vendors will not accept cash. PNE Gift Cards (to use in place of cash) are available at Guest Services in the Livestock Barns or near the main Playland gate.
5. Hitch a ride or plan for parking
On-site parking is limited. You can view parking locations using this map, or plan to take Transit to the PNE with TransLink’s Trip Planner.
Entrance gates are located on Miller Drive (near the Hastings Racecourse), at Playland (Hastings & Windermere), and on the west side of Hastings Park near the PNE Agrodome.
June 30: The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) Fair has announced an in-person event from Aug. 21 to Sept. 6. This annual fair features shows, exhibits, sporting events, amusement rides, concerts, and cultural activities.
Highlights of the 2021 PNE Fair include:
- fan favourite President’s Choice® SuperDogs™
- nightly live music featuring local favourite artists on the Revel District Stage
- the classic West Coast Lumberjack Show,
- nightly pyro musical finale, where the skies will erupt with fantastic pyrotechnics
With limited tickets available each day, the 2021 PNE Fair will look a little different, and will focus on offering the essential attractions that many visitors know and love.
