LinkedIn Starts Conducting All Interviews Virtually Because Of Coronavirus

After Google decided to start interviewing its potential job candidates online, LinkedIn decided to implement this policy as well, making all job interviews virtual.
The reason for this is the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, according to an email sent to one applicant from the staffing team at the social media company.
The Social Media Giant’s Statement About Job Interviews
“In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak and with everyone’s health being LinkedIn’s #1 priority at the moment, all candidates who are scheduled to come onsite are being given the option to either complete their entire interview virtually via BlueJeans video conference, or cancel their current schedule and hold off on rescheduling until coming onsite is possible,” LinkedIn says in the email. The email also noted that “neither option will harm nor affect the candidacy at the company.”
Google sent a similar email on March 4 to all of its job candidates, saying that all of the interviews will be done virtually. Facebook, on the other hand, said that it would be canceling most of the in-person job interviews, and Amazon put all of the on-site job interviews on an indefinite hold last week.
When asked for a comment, LinkedIn did not have anything to share about its interviewing policies. Still, a company spokesperson said that the team is trying to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus which is why they decided to implement this new policy.

Meanwhile, other leading tech firms such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft and IBM restricted travel in light of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. With over 97,000 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus has more than 170 confirmed cases in the United States and 45 cases in Canada. More than 3,300 people worldwide have died from the disease and the toll is still rising.
