DunnEnzies Mission Hosting a Massive Winter Fundraiser for Kacey G.
On Friday, December 6th DunnEnzies Pizza & Parlour in the Mission will be opening their doors to raise money for a very special little girl and her family.
Kacey Gulbransen is a very young Kelowna resident, and she has recently been diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS). ERMS is a very aggressive form of tissue cancer, most often diagnosed in children. Kacey has already undergone surgery once to remove the tumor, but another cluster of microscopic cells has been discovered. She will be treated with 12 weeks of Chemotherapy at the BC Childrens’ Hospital, at which point a major surgery will likely be necessary. Kacey’s oncologists believe that her treatment will last for nearly a year. Recent prognosis of the disease is looking hopeful – as 70% of patients survive 5 years or longer after diagnosis. But this little girl and her family have a long road ahead of them.
The costs of supporting a patient with cancer are massive – financial costs, as well as emotional costs. Kacey will be travelling with her mother back and forth for treatment, while her father and siblings will stay in Kelowna. The family will be paying for extra travel costs, particularly over the holiday season so they can be together. They are also experiencing a significant loss of income, and will continue to over the coming months.
DunnEnzies has caught wind of this little warrior, and they are doing everything in their power to help raise $10,000 for Kacey’s family. Fundraising efforts are currently going on, and will culminate with a Winter Festival on December 6th at their Mission location. There will be a 50/50 draw, a silent auction featuring many local partners, a S’mores bar, photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and live music featuring local duo Tiger Moon. Tickets for the December 6th event are on sale now, and they include one house beverage, a hot appetizer buffet and the show beginning at 8pm.
Further details and tickets can be found on the Facebook Event page, as well as at Kacey’s fundraiser – both linked below!
Come join Santa, DunnEnzies, and our neighbourhood as we help to raise $10,000 for the Gulbransen family!
