SYMPHONY LAUNCHES 2016-2017 SEASON(Kelowna, BC, September 28, 2016) – The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) has launched single ticket sales for the 2016-2017 season, one that promises to inspire, entertain and welcome new and seasoned audience members to the OSO stages in Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon October through May.This season the OSO will perform three fantastic symphonies by Beethoven, Brahms and Mendelssohn as well as Mussorgsky’s towering Pictures at an Exhibition. The OSO also pays tribute to vibrant music from Latin and South America.  The Christmas performance of Messiah will appeal to those who love tradition, and a new collaboration with Ballet Kelowna to celebrate Canada’s Sesquicentennial will close our season and excite those who love to discover something new. With a pre-concert chat before each of the Deloitte Masterworks Series concerts, open dress rehearsals, family matinées, school concerts, preschool activities, the OSO Chorus and the Okanagan Symphony Youth Orchestra, there are so many ways to make the OSO a part of your life.The season opens in Kelowna on Friday, October 21 at 7:30pm (doors & pre-concert chat 6:30pm) with additional performances in Penticton Saturday, October 22 at 7:30pm (doors & pre-concert chat 6:30pm) and Vernon on Sunday, October 23 at 7:00pm (doors & pre-concert chat 6:00pm). The music of Elton John will be performed in November for the OSO’s annual POPs concert featuring Jeans ‘n Classics — the OSO invites you to relive the past decades as we sing and play all of your favourites. The New Year will see returns of guest artists Ian Parker in January and Minsoo Sohn in March, bookending our annual side-by-side concert with the OSYO in February, featuring flutist Christie Reside.
